Ben Evans
Ben began brewing beer early in college and has been hooked ever since. For years he has been working on his beer recipes, apprenticing in production breweries in his spare time away from neuroscience research, and planning to open Hellbender Brewing Company right here in the city he was born in. Ben currently conducts research in the fields of microbiology and neural regeneration. He made his first batch of low quality kit beer as a college undergrad and, despite the effort tasting like apple cider, became obsessed with making the perfect batch of beer. Inspired by some GREAT local craft brews, Ben began putting his Biology and Neuroscience major to good use by making some great beer of his own. Hellbender is the result of his years of brewing and desire to provide his hometown with what it’s been missing for so long- a great line of locally-made craft beers!
Patrick Mullane
Patrick has worked more than a decade in Congress as a transportation and budget policy staffer. Patrick spent his five years on Capitol Hill working nights and weekends as a bar hand and cook and still sports the scars he earned from his various menu experiments with industrial deep fryers. Wanting to expand his culinary experience, he began brewing in his free time after leaving the kitchen life and has been refining his craft since meeting Ben in 2007. A Connecticut native, Patrick moved to D.C. in 1997 and resides in the Atlas District.
